The Baby Jogger City Select Triple Stroller Hack

Hello all,

It’s been awhile…

But with the constant amount of questions I get on this particular subject from friends and strangers alike, I’ve decided to come back here to my little page to give some answers.

First off, this post is in no way an affiliate to the company “>Baby Jogger and their popular stroller the “>City Select. I actually have no idea whether they would even condone this hack or whether your stroller warranty would be voided after having done this hack. Personally I waited until my stroller had fallen out of warranty to even attempt this.

This is however perhaps an answer for those with multiples on multiples of young children (or even triplets) as a way to get around say places like the mall or theme parks like Disneyland without having to push the monstrosity of a normal triple stroller. With this Baby Jogger City Select hack you are able to get away with the length of a double stroller and still be able to fit an extra child fairly comfortably (we will get into the comforts later).

I’ve literally scoured the internet looking for this hack but could never find it… I knew it was totally possible though. I’ve even reached out to people who have done similar things to their strollers, but no one was willing to give answers. So here I am after figuring out my own hack!  (Thanks to this guy below, I love him so.)

IMG_5237IMG_6863

My hack only works with the “>City Select (Sorry, not LUX version). When people stop me and say they want to try this and that they have the same stroller and I see that the handle bar is different and that it’s definitely NOT the same stroller, I always feel bad… sorry can’t help you, hopefully you can figure out a different hack and even share? So make sure it’s the same stroller before you attempt this. Also, I assume you already have this stroller set to the double as I write this. P.S. This stroller is heavy to push… but what double stroller isn’t… sigh…

So here it goes! (note: you will only be able to have all seats face the person strolling… sorry, but good news you can still switch around the seats when using only two seats).

IMG_5234

  1. What you will need: A “>City Select second seat, which we will use as an extra 3rd seat, power drill, drill bit for metal (Sorry not sure the size. I will have to figure this out, but I literally took in the screw to Home Depot and someone was able to help me find the correct size. If you try this yourself please let me know so that I can share.), Loctite (optional).
  2. OK, now look at your stroller. Look at the center of your stroller. Do you see the two mounting brackets that allow for the different heights of one seat? These brackets are key! And good thing my hack is super easy! Ignore the lower mounting bracket and take a look at the top set. These are the ones you are going to remove. Remove those screws. Save those two brackets and four screws (these are the screws you will need to find the correct drill bit size for).
  3. Once you have the correct bit (make sure it’s one made to drill through metal), you can begin!
  4. First take off all the chairs and pull up the handle to the highest setting (Again, another sorry this will also be a permanent position, but hey you can fit three now).
  5. For the middle seat you will need to remove the footing bar on one of the full-sized seats, this allows for the seat to slide in and out of the middle mounting bracket already there. You will need to adjust the legs to face down. If you would like a snack tray to still fit, you will need to attach this on the seat first as well.
  6. Then take another seat. This will be your top seat. Attach the brackets you have removed. Have someone help align the seat to where you would like it to sit above the middle seat and mark the spot on the frame with a pencil or marker or something you can see. Don’t leave too much room between the middle seat and the top seat… you don’t want the top seat to tip, so keep it as low as you possibly can. Remove the brackets from the seat and place at the area you have marked on the stroller frame. Then mark dots where you will need to drill. Remove the brackets.
  7. Here’s to the drilling. You’ve got to get it right the first time! Make sure everything is aligned and start drilling.
  8. Once you have your four holes, an adhesive spray like Loctite would be a good call at this point before screwing. When you are ready screw in your brackets.
  9. Now for the fun part. Load all your seats onto the stroller. Test the top “hacked” seat for movement and make sure it is secured.
  10. You are ready to go!

IMG_5247

Now about the comfort… I’d say the top and bottom seats are pretty much the same comfort as you would expect normally, however the middle seat will seam a bit squished and tight to get in and out of. It doesn’t bother my children as they all prefer sitting and napping in their stroller and like the fact that they each have a seat.

Hope this answered a lot of your questions. If you plan to attempt this or have already, please share your experience, I’d love to hear!

Follow @AHomeWithWalls to see us strolling about!

EDIT: For the 1000 of ppl who will compliment you or ask how’d you do it, there will be a handful of naysayers who will try to mom-shame/parent-shame you for doing such hack. As with anything…

Fluff Stuff: Bumkins Snap-In-One Cloth Diaper Review & GIVEAWAY!

If you followed me on Instagram pre-baby to the arrival of my first Huntley Lynn, you’d probably already know that I am a big fan of cloth diapering. With a growing newborn Penelope and soon-to-be working washing machine, I am happy to start stuffing fluff and sharing adorable CD pics again!

While I still get a sense of satisfaction after having stuffed our fluff, my mommy laziness still has me reaching for the all-in-one diapers first before grabbing ones with inserts. I was ecstatic to learn that Bumkins accommodated my love for aio cloth diapers and had created the Snap-In-One cloth diaper! As with most fitted, pocket, aio, and hybrid style cloth diapers, the Snap-In-One has a three snap rise with hip and waist snaps for easy adjusting so you can get just the right fit for your little one. The shell of the diaper is made waterproof with a PUL exterior fabric with TPU to make it stain and odor resistant, while the interior fabric is made breathable and natural with a deluxe layer of cozy cotton/bamboo rayon blend to keep baby comfortable. I was amazed by how soft the interior fabric felt right off the bat! One of the most unique features is unlike other AIO diapers, this Snap-In-One diaper gives you the option to customize the absorbency. The detachable snap insert features minky fabric for comfort with interior layers of microfiber for absorbency. You can also tuck the insert in the pocket to allow for natural fabric against the skin or leave out for a stay-dry effect when needed (say at night time). Bumkins also offers the option to purchase cotton/bamboo Snap-In-One inserts too. Another unique thing that I noticed about this diaper is that unlike other aio diapers which are usually all sewn together, this Snap-In-One makes washing and getting the stains out a lot easier since you can actually remove the liner!

With Penelope’s sudden growth this past week, I knew it was time to start CD’ing! She has the cutest bullfrog belly and chubby thighs so I was actually able to get a nice fit and haven’t had any trouble with blow-outs (which tends to happen sometimes with disposables). The minimum weight recommendation for this cloth diaper is seven pounds and can be used to a maximum 32 pounds baby/toddler.

ITS GIVEAWAY TIME! (Click Here!)

Whether you already cloth diapering, considering, or are hesitant but would like to try – Bumkins and I would like to give you an opportunity to win your own Bumkins Snap-In-One Diaper! All you have to do is follow me on Instagram @TiffWall, like the giveaway photo, and tag a friend – it’s that easy! Winner will be announced next Tuesday 😉

We’re Going on a “Egg-Hunt”

This past weekend was spent practicing for the real Easter Egg Hunts to happen on actual Easter Day. I think after two consecutive fun-filled mornings Huntley finally gets it! We started off Saturday morning after a short 45 minute nap, just mommy and me in Huntington Beach at a local-run event complete with Easter egg hunting (which she was great at), face painting, bounce house (although Huntley is still too young for this, she liked watching the older kids inside), and a visit with the Easter bunny (who she is definitely not a fan of).

Last year with Huntley only being a few weeks old she didn’t quite understand the Easter bunny, let alone ‘sitting’ and we ended up taking her Easter photos with the cute mechanical interactive bunny at South Coast Plaza. She was so round back then, I always say she looks like a little egg next to the bunny! I had hoped to take photos with this bunny every year, but $30 just seems way too much money spent on one picture…

This year, we’re a week away from Easter and are in full Easter-mode! Tanner and I discussed our desire to go to Easter Vigil at our Parish and are really hoping to make it with baby girl, even though it cuts so close to her bedtime. We’d like to follow the next morning with Easter Mass, Easter brunch and of course Easter activities for Huntley – those including an egg hunt or two!

Today we went to the Spring Fling at The OC Mix – SoCo and had tons of fun, despite the crowds and bit of chaos, we even bumped into four of our baby playgroup friends! We got there just in time for the first round of the egg hunt and Huntley was so lucky to find so many eggs, but instead of putting them into her basket like she did yesterday, she had already learned of the prizes and treats within the eggs and would throw back each egg after attempting to open them…so while many of the big kids left with 10-20 eggs in their baskets our little Huntley was just so happy to have the three she put in hers! We then took Huntley to get her face painted and this girl hates sitting still, but for a pretty face painting complete with glitter she will sit still ready to say her “oohs & ahhs” in the mirror when all finished!

With the home addition/renovations going on at our little Home with Walls and being in SoCo, it was the perfect place to look for inspiration so we left the crowds at The OC Mix and headed to one of my favorite stores Pirch and perused the bath section. Huntley enjoyed playing with the shower head showroom and even conducted her own shower show by pressing away at all the buttons. She was also in love with all the bathtubs and even wanted to try out every sink faucet since she’s obsessed with water and loves washing and drying her own hands! She had so much fun playing in the store and seeing all the different appliances and decor – the girl loves design I can say she’s truly a girl after my own heart!

When we were ready to head back, I noticed that my sister and friend Sally were on their way over so we decided to stay and wait to hang out with them for a bit. Sadly, by the time they had come the events had died down and there wasn’t much for the babes to do. Luckily the petting zoo was still open and I was also able to get a yummy grilled cheese sandwich at Shuck. After the petting zoo we walked around some more shops, got an acai bowl (which we loved) at Birdie and enjoyed some more family time before heading home.

Sunday Brunch & The Aquarium of the Pacific

This morning we decided to take advantage of the sunny day and spent time at the Long Beach Shoreline Marina and Aquarium of the Pacific. We recently received this shirt from Moozega‘s new line, one of the awesome shops we are so lucky to be a brand rep for on Instagram and such. If you’ve never heard of them, you really must check them out! The shirts are all printed on American Apparel fine jersey cotton knit material and the print quality is just superior! The ink doesn’t fade in the wash and the designs are gender neutral and wonderfully unique! These are by far some of our favorite printed tees we own and this elephant one was requested by Tanner and I because we just love elephants! As you can see, we tend to put Huntley is shirts sized a bit bigger than her actual size, due to her Winnie the Pooh-like belly!

RANDOM, but here are some reasons why we love elephants! Did you know that elephants are pack animals that usually stay herds with their families.  They are also known to be extremely intelligent and form very strong emotional bonds! An elephant’s memory is truly impeccable as he can actually remember an elephant he’s met hundreds of years ago if he ran into him again. Also, elephants will usually bury a fellow elephant that has died, even if they didn’t know that elephant! But enough about elephants, here’s a flood of photos from today’s outing!

Since it was Sunday and a perfect one at that, we knew the aquarium would somewhat be packed and decided to just hit up a few parts that we already knew were Huntley’s favorites such as the seals/sea-lions tunnel, the penguins, and the Baja California exhibit.

IMG_2307 IMG_2320 IMG_2321 IMG_2327 IMG_2329 IMG_2334 IMG_2343 IMG_2349

Afterwards, we headed home and took a much needed family nap! Luckily when we woke from our naps the weather was still warm and the sun was still shining bright so we decided to let Huntley play in the backyard for a bit with water tables and play set.

IMG_2416 IMG_2405 IMG_2404 IMG_2392 IMG_2394 IMG_2374 IMG_2373 IMG_2369 IMG_2362

All in all it was a great Sunday spent! How was your weekend spent?

Bathing Beauty

If you’ve ever seen my daughter around water and seen how excited she gets, you’d already know that bath time is just like “the best thing ever!” Huntley loves loves loves swim class, her water tables (yes, she has two), but most of all – she loves bath time! I bathe her once, twice, and sometimes three times a day! Not because she’s always dirty, but just because she loves it so very much! As I mentioned before, she even broke our converter on our bath faucet so that we’d all ONLY be able to take baths until we got it fixed almost five months later… Many times when Huntley gets cranky she runs to the bathroom and tries to get in the tub, saying “mama-mamaaa- ma-ma-ma” so many of the times I give in. For some reason the water seems to really calm her down. Tanner even calls her his little seahorse (for more reasons than one). Anyways we were recently asked to become part of the Nuby USA Parent Bloggers team and are extremely excited about the idea of sharing our love for their products we already own and reviewing some new products that are soon to come! This Nuby Octopus Bath Time Toss was given to Huntley when she was first born by her Wela and Gramps and these days she just loves it so much since she actually knows to how to play with it.

Mammoth Fun – Our Valentine’s Day Weekend

As you know this past weekend was Valentine’s weekend and we spent ours with good friends and family. Since we all have babes under two, we decided to do Valentine’s weekend on the slopes of our favorite home away from home Mammoth Mountain where my brother-in-law and sister have a large spacious cabin/condo perfect for three families! Breakfasts were had in-home (bacon and eggs with toast, etc.) and lunches and dinners were enjoyed outside with the cooler weather and beautiful sceneries! Although I didn’t get to snowboard, yet another season of being pregnant, however I did get to enjoy breath-taking views! Also, having three beautiful little girls running around with laughter and joy in their hearts wasn’t too bad either. I just wish I could say that Huntley loved the snow as much as she loved the ocean, but I’d be lying if I did.

Hope you all had a Happy Valentine’s weekend as well!

Jammed Packed Holidays

Is it just me? Or did Halloween, Thanksgiving and now Christmas come and go so quickly? I had planned to have our house this year be even more decked out in Christmas spirit than the last. However, finding the time to pull out our five large storage boxes marked “Christmas” and the nativity scene didn’t seem worth it with the one day a week we get to spend with Tanner. And being pregnant, once again during the holidays, I haven’t been allowed to do it all myself. My husband hates when I try to use the ladder in the garage to get things. And the few weekends were spent putting away all the Thanksgiving Fall decor, which luckily I have downsized to three medium sized boxes and one large storage bin (yippee!)

Screen Shot 2014-12-18 at 3.53.50 AM

This time last year, I had it together! Christmas presents were bought and wrapped early. There weren’t any traveling involved since we didn’t think it best to be traveling to Arizona (as we would normally) since I was a week out from being due to give birth. And thank goodness we stayed home during Christmas since we ended up walking around the neighborhood Christmas morning with my terribly painful contractions. We were lucky enough to have my in-laws come down to celebrate some pre-Christmas festivities with us around our decked out Christmas tree, but Christmas itself was not the same.

This year is not going the way I had imagined for Huntley’s first Christmas. I put out all our normal nautical decor even though I had originally planned to have the house be in traditional classic Christmas spirit as I had mentioned above. However, I also didn’t imagine being pregnant once again, or having to throw a first birthday party, literally the next day after driving back from a week long trip to Arizona. We still got our grand fir 6 ft. tree as tradition (and we picked a perfect one this year!) I thought it would be best to decorate with a few of our cherished ornaments, but not all, however after pointing to three wrong storage bins that the husband had to haul down from the top of the garage racks, we gave up. I did end up decorating as best I could with some seashells we had from a wind chime that fell over in our backyard and some twine to keep with our nautical theme. I also found two gorgeous nautical Christmas wreaths to hang – and I love them!

Even though our house might not be in much Christmas spirit as I had hoped for, I just know Huntley will have an amazing first Christmas at her Wela and grandpa’s house this year!

How have you been keeping up with the holidays?

Keep in Touch

My friend,

As the years go by it seems harder and harder to keep in touch with friends, even the closest of friends. And it gets easier and easier to dismiss those that you love and hope (had hoped) to remain friends with. It may be due to the fact that “we’ve been so busy,” the same excuse you hear from almost everyone. The truth is, even when we aren’t busy, we all need a little break from everyday life and I can totally understand that, as I hope other people do too.

Luckily, I don’t have to work (or at least not in the business/career world) since my job is never-ending and I consider it to be the best job ever. Tanner on the otherhand has to work, and he works hard every day. He works long hours, like 14-15 hours a day with some eight-hour Saturdays, but hey someone needs to work in the family to support us financially. However, this leaves so little time for him to spend with Huntley and I. That one full Sunday he gets with us is like the best day ever for him, with Monday being the worst. The last thing he wants to do is spend time elsewhere with other people on the one or two day(s) he gets off, even if he really enjoys hanging out with those people. I’m always the extra push to get us out and about on weekends. I love hanging out with our friends and family, even on those days that I know I could just stay in with my loves in my comfy pjs and slippers, ordering meals in and baking cookies on the side. I’m the one that, if you call/text/message me to hang out, I’ll never hesitate to say “yes!” Although you might have to be the one to ask, since my mind is always gone these days and very focused on Huntley and getting the house in the order. With the new year approaching, I tell myself that I’ll be better about this “keeping in touch” thing, and that I will be the one to initiate play-dates, coffee dates, mall dates, or just plain “hanging out” wherever and whenever. Just as long as we get to spend some quality time together. Please be patient with me, my friend, and I promise I will keep in touch.

Family Christmas Photos 2014 – Our “GROWING” News!

My husband and I always knew we wanted more than one child, we just didn’t know that we’d become a family of four so quickly! As unplanned as this new addition is, we are beyond thrilled and are feeling very blessed this holiday season as we finally got to announce our big news to all our close family and friends with our early Christmas card photos!
